Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) refers to the integration of solar photovoltaic (PV) technology into the design and construction of buildings. BIPV systems allow solar panels to be seamlessly integrated into various building elements such as windows, roofs, facades, or shading structures.
Instead of adding solar panels to an existing building, BIPV enables the building elements themselves to generate clean electricity from sunlight.
SiQDs can be integrated into luminescent solar concentrators (LSC) aka smart windows to generate energy via light collection over vertical synthetic glass slabs added to a window.
Key Advantages of SiQDs:
- long-time photostability
- low ligh loss trough re-absorption
- tunable emission of light
- absorption coefficient high in the UV region to obtain high transparency/efficiency ratio
